what should i put inside my sketchbook?
Hello little earthlings in my laptop,
It’s been a while since I’ve had a sketchbook that truly felt like mine. And now that I do, I’m staring at the first page like it holds the weight of the universe. I want it to be something special—something that feels like the window to my soul.
A sketchbook isn’t just for sketches. It’s for telling stories without needing to explain. It’s where your thoughts slip out through your pencil when words are too shy. So I thought—maybe if I write down a few strange, dreamy ideas, we can both find some inspiration. Here are some things I’m thinking of filling these pages with (and maybe you should too)
things to draw inside your sketchbook:
people you love: capture their smile, or the tilt of their head when they laugh
windows and doorways: glimpses into other worlds
places that made you feel something: a quiet café, a bustling street, the corner of your room where the light falls just right.
flowers and plants: delicate petals, climbing vines, or your favorite bouquet—draw them before they fade.
outfits and fashion dreams: sketches of what you wore or wish you could wear
stars: which only the moon befriends.
fragments of dreams: surreal shapes, faces that blur, scenes that don’t make sense or that you half remember
textures and patterns: from café tabletops to cracked cement, which you thought looked cool
daily mundane objects: keys, headphones, mugs—simple things that make up your everyday life
your feelings as shapes and colors: abstract and unfiltered.
a memory you don’t want to forget: sketch it out like a diary entry, loose and heartfelt
.
unfinished thoughts: half-drawn pages, things you don’t quite understand yet. Let your sketchbook be a safe place for becoming.
before you leave, if you like this post and wish for more to come:
may peace be upon you.
